Our Name: shiloh

Presence.
Power.
Peace.

Shiloh has significant place and meaning within the story of the Bible. At it’s first mention, in Genesis 49:10, it is used as a name to prophecy of the Messiah, Jesus Christ who had not yet come. Shiloh is also the location where the tent of meeting was first placed as the Israelites entered the promised land, where they would come to meet the Lord and encounter his presence.

It’s significance continued throughout the Old Testament. One of the last mentions of Shiloh is in Jeremiah 7. The Lord by this time had allowed Shiloh to be destroyed because of Israel’s wickedness. In Jeremiah the Lord reminds the Israelites of this and warns them that he will do the same if they continue to deny him and walk in their own wickedness.

Throughout the scriptures Shiloh represents the Presence of God since it is where many people met the Lord and encountered his presence in life changing ways. In Joshua 18:1 the land laid subdued before them, signifying power and peace in the land, where there is no more war and the Lord and his people reigned just as he has purposed.

We recognize Shiloh as another name for Jesus, the Messiah. Jesus walked in Peace and Power and was the very essence of the Prescence of God. Our goal is to be more like Jesus, live by his Presence, Power, and Peace and let those around us be effected by it.

Our heart is to be Shiloh.

Our 3 pillars

evangelism
discipleship
fellowship

We believe the most basic yet critical functions of the church are these three pillars of Evangelism, Discipleship, and Fellowship. Each of these three functions are found in the great commission and during the time of the early church. They are also all intertwined and almost never happen on their own.

In Matthew 26:19-20, Jesus tells the disciples to go (Evangelism) and make Disciples of all nations. In this passage, the call for Evangelism and Discipleship are strongly evident. Acts 2 also demonstrates the importance of these three functions. Acts 2:42-47 speaks clearly on the activities of the early church. It says that “they devoted themselves to the apostles teachings (Discipleship) and to the Fellowship, to the breaking of bread (Fellowship) and prayer. (Discipleship).”

Given these passages and many other scriptures that support them and encourage believers to live by these functions, these three pillars are our focus as a church.

who are we

Shiloh church is led by Pastor Daniel Montes and Pastor Michael Montes.

Pastor Daniel has worked in fulltime ministry for many years. He’s been involved in ministry ever since the age of 14. Through it all he has seen God do many marvelous works. Pastor Daniel’s desire is to let the world know how good God is and how much God loves each and every person, to tell everyone that Jesus is the answer to every question and problem, and to make it known that this world’s only hope is in and through Jesus Christ.

Pastor Michael attended Southwestern Assemblies of God University (now Nelson University) to study Church Leadership. As a child and a student, well unto his teenage years, he stayed actively involved in his church, spending even up to 5 days a week working at the church for the people there and for the ministry work to be done. He functioned as a volunteer and a leader in some ministries. His heart continues to be for the growth of the church and has recently had a greater heart for the lost and recognized the importance of evangelism and outreach.
Since his time at university, Pastor Michael has used his education and experience to lead Shiloh church according to the Spirit.
